About Me
I view the relationship between therapist and client as a collaboration: you are the expert in your own life and my job is to listen, be a witness to your journey and create (as much) safety as possible.
My work is grounded in a social justice and anti-oppressive framework not limited by the gender binary. I’m a white, queer, trans-masc, non-binary human. My queer and trans identities are deeply rooted in how I approach being a therapist.
In 2014 I graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in communication and history. After graduating, I found myself working in corporate settings that I wasn’t passionate about. After work and on weekends I began volunteering with queer and trans youth at The Trevor Project. I spent five years as a suicide lifeline counselor, mentor, and training facilitator. In this work I discovered my true passion, and in 2022 I graduated with honors from Silberman School of Social Work (Field of Practice: Sexuality & Gender) at Hunter College. I became a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) that same year.
During my time at Silberman I performed a year long research project entitled “A Qualitative Study on Barriers and Supports in Transgender Folks Pursuit of Gender-Affirming Surgery.” My graduate thesis was a study of “Gender Euphoria, Self Efficacy, and Trans Joy in Clinical Social Work.”
I’m currently a team member at Queer Therapy NYC and am supervised by Liam Cudmore (LCSW) who has been doing this work for 9 years.
When not working, I'm cooking and setting off the fire alarm, biking around Brooklyn, and watching good/bad TV in equal measure. I can sometimes reference a TikTok in a very earnest way!
